In The Shop – Vintage Watches: A 1970 Rolex Submariner Reference 1680, 1960s Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, And A 1960s Enicar Sherpa Super Divette
We are back this week with another selection of vintage watches for you to peruse. We have everything you need from a 1970 Rolex Red Submariner to a 1960s Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox. Here are this week’s highlights.
1960s Enicar Sherpa Super Divette
In 1964, Enicar introduced its first two-crown dive watch, and it was endorsed by Dr. Hans Hass, a well-respected Austrian researcher and diving professional. This Sherpa Super Divette 33 is an early version of the Super Divette, which is essentially a scaled down version of the Super Dive. There are many other things about this watch that we love, including that the dive case was made by Ervin Piquerez S.A., the practical date function, and the Enicar stainless steel “beads of rice” bracelet. Not only is this a legitimate tool watch, it is also a delightful everyday piece on your wrist. You can read more about this watch here.
1960s Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox
The Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox is one of the coolest vintage watches produced by the manufacturer. In fact, it’s so cool that they decided to launch a limited edition Polaris Memovox this year at SIHH. This is an original version from the 1960s, complete with buzzing alarm function and date display. We love this watch for its clean design and fun “if you know, you know,” alarm function. You can read more about it here.
1970 Rolex ‘Red’ Submariner Reference 1680
Ah, the Rolex “Red” Submariner. Over the years, this watch has become one of the most sought after collectible vintage Rolexes. It’s hard not to love this watch when you see it in the metal. The example we have here has a beautiful Mark IV matte dial with vanilla-colored patina – and it looks killer on the wrist. And how can we forget that small detail that makes all the difference: the tin red line of text that makes this watch so valuable. You can read more about this watch here.
