In The Shop: A 1940s Universal Genève Compur For Türler, A 1970s Hamilton Chrono-Matic, And A 1980s Heuer Autavia With Its Original Box

By HODINKEE Shop

This week we have another great selection of vintage watches for you. Last week we brought you a few truly outstanding pieces, including this Paul Newman from the original owner, and while there isn’t a Daytona up for grabs this week we still have some goodies for you, including a handful of unusual chronographs and some more spartan time-only pieces.

1940s Universal Genève Compur Chronograph For Türler

This Compur was produced by Universal Genève and retailed by the renowned Swiss retailer, Türler, as you can see on the dial. We love this watch not only because it’s special to see the name of a retailer on the dial (especially one that’s not a headline-grabber like Tiffany or Cartier) but also because the case is made of steel and has rose gold lugs. This Hamilton Chrono-Matic immediately catches your attention with its beautiful Panda dial. Underneath all that it utilizes the caliber 11 automatic chronograph movement, something equally note-worthy. This movement powered similar watches by Heuer and Breitling (which cost many times what this watch does) and is a stalwart in the category. Check out the details here.

It’s no secret that vintage Heuers are having a moment. For a long time they were extremely undervalued by all but a small sub-set of collectors, but they’re getting their time in the sun (and prices are starting to climb accordingly). This Autavia from the 1980s features grey registers, is packing an automatic caliber 12 movement, and it comes with its original box. Click here to see the full listing.

There’s More

That’s not all! We have a great selection of other watches including a 1940s Lemania Chronograph, a 1950s Longines reference 6037-1, a 1960s Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic with box, and a 1983 Rolex Submariner reference 16800 with the date display.
